PAC finds Milton town plan amendment consistent with regional plan

Darren Schibler, Senior Planner, reviewed the Town of Milton’s recent town plan amendment. The amendment adds new data on aging and creates an East Milton Transition Subarea — a residential designation on the northeast side of Milton’s downtown. Schibler noted the area lacks municipal sewer (it has water only) and residential densities will remain low, under one dwelling per acre.
Staff said Milton’s Planning Commission proposed the subarea after receiving zoning-change requests and concluded the area could support more housing than current zoning allows while remaining distinct from rural areas and limiting overall density. PAC members had no comments or concerns; staff will issue the regional consistency letter the following day.
