Resident alleges repeated coach misconduct; board directs follow-up with secondary director

At the start of the public comment period Alfred Rivera told the board he has collected multiple complaints over several years about coaching conduct in the district. Rivera said one player in 2014 was "sidelined" because he lacked local connections and alleged staff told players to "go one-on-one" or be sidelined. He told the board that certain coaches "showing up smelling like alcohol" and that one receivers coach "put hands on a player and threw him to the floor." Rivera said the parent raised concerns directly with the principal and that a coach who allegedly spit on a player appears on game video.
"I've been doing it for 26 years," Rivera said, asking why some coaches are still in their positions. The chair cut off the public comment at the allotted time and suggested Rivera make an appointment with the director of secondary education to pursue the matter. A staff member present (identified as the director of secondary education during board remarks) was asked to follow up with Rivera after the meeting.
Board members did not take formal action during the meeting; the chair and staff advised the resident to bring evidence to the appropriate administrator for investigation and potential personnel or safety follow-up.
