"Were getting very close" on the early education center, the facilities presenter said, but landscaping work will be extended because soil testing returned "unplantable soil" and staff are scheduling soil amendments and additional testing before planting. Interior finish work and flooring are expected by the end of the month and move-in for furniture around early December.
The board saw renderings for the new administration building, described as a JTS modular unit that facilities staff expect to deliver in March 2026 with completion by July 2026 so it can be occupied for the start of the school year in August 2026. The presentation showed plans for a Senior Courtyard, additional windows in classroom wings, new shade structures, seating walls and an outdoor stage with lighting and power for performances.
Facilities noted that bids for the Los Banos High modernization packages opened with strong contractor turnout and came in below budget estimates; because of the favorable bids staff requested a special board meeting to approve contract awards and begin construction on Dec. 8. The board discussed scheduling concerns and agreed to hold a special meeting as requested.
On smaller projects: EV chargers and parking signage are being installed, and work on other school sites (e.g., velarized parking and bell systems) is ongoing. The board asked for clarifications about timelines and costs; staff said some items remain on a punch list and identified expected completion windows.
No new contracts were approved in this presentation; staff asked the board to schedule a special meeting to act on contract awards so construction can proceed early in December.
