Anamosa City Council approves ordinances, contracts and routine business; votes at a glance

The Anamosa City Council met Oct. 14, 2024, at the Anamosa Library & Learning Center and approved a series of ordinances, contracts and routine business items affecting zoning, public works and city administration.
Among the actions, the council approved Ordinance 961, repealing Ordinance 953 related to the Vacant Building Permit and Inspection Process; passed Ordinance 962 rezoning Kouba Subdivision from multi-family to single-family residential; and approved the second reading of Ordinance 963. The council voted to proceed with the Ford/Huber Alley Sewer Project and accepted the contract for the WWTP Flow Equalization Improvement Project under Resolution 2024-53.
Council also approved Resolution 2024-54 to hire a Temporary Seasonal Public Works laborer for the November 2024–May 2025 season and set the salary. The council denied a Public Utilities Department request to purchase and install a septic receiving screen.
Administrative and community items approved included setting Anamosa Trick-or-Treat for Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; denying a quit claim deed transfer from Craig Elliot for the property at 207 W. Main Street; accepting ownership and maintenance of downtown pet waste stations from the Anamosa Chamber of Commerce; and approving the 2024 Bridge Inspection Services Agreement with Origin Design.
The council voted to delay action on a contract amendment with ECICOG and on a Budget Amendment Request to the Iowa Department of Economic Development related to the Downtown Façade Improvement Project. It approved the applications of Ethan Boone and Riley Houston-McDaniel to join the Anamosa Volunteer Fire Department and approved consent pay requests totaling $22,734.90. The meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
