The Lindenhurst Village Board on Sept. 11 approved a master agreement with Lake County to set out responsibility and cost‑sharing for energy, maintenance and future expenses associated with county‑owned and village‑owned traffic control devices, and completed several routine financial and personnel actions.
Mayor Dominic Marturano called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the board quickly moved through opening business, approving corrected minutes from Aug. 14. Trustee Pat Dunham then brought forward the first set of bills for September — $987,600.06 — which the board approved on a roll‑call vote.
Trustee Pat Dunham presented the Treasurer's Report for August, stating, "The total for all accounts on August 31, 2023 was $15,537,119.37," a report the trustees approved by roll call.
The master agreement with Lake County, described by staff as formalizing the village's existing division of costs and making it easier to add new signals through amendments to Exhibit A, was approved after a motion by Trustee Patty Chybowski. The agreement is intended to reduce review time and simplify billing when traffic signals are installed or require maintenance.
Mayor Marturano also nominated Tom Heinrich to fill a vacancy on the Police Pension Board; the mayor said Heinrich, who has served more than 18 years as director of human resources at the College of Lake County, brings experience with pensions and disability claims. Trustees voted to confirm the appointment.
Board members spent part of the meeting reporting on recent community events. "Lindenfest was a success. Everyone involved did a great job," Trustee Pat Dunham said; multiple trustees and the mayor noted positive community feedback about Lindenfest, Venetian Night and improvements to Linden Plaza, while acknowledging some residents had questions about increased police presence during the festival.
Village Administrator Clay Johnson clarified a line on the bill report: "The Ziegler Nissan payment listed within the Bill Report is for the 50/50 sales tax rebate," he said. Chief Tom Jones reported record participation at the village charitable golf outing and thanked organizers for Venetian Night.
