Lindenhurst board awards newsletter redesign, authorizes $90,605 truck purchase and approves $274,235 in bills

At its Sept. 25 meeting the Lindenhurst Village Board approved several administrative and procurement items, including a design contract for the village newsletter and the purchase of a Public Works replacement truck.

Trustee Dickson moved and Trustee Suchy seconded authorizing a service agreement with Locality Studio (St. Louis, MO) for graphic design services to modernize the village newsletter. The contract was authorized not-to-exceed $2,210 to be paid from the General Fund; the motion passed unanimously on a roll-call vote (Aye 5, Nay 0).

Public Works explained that ongoing labor-union strikes and supply-chain delays could prevent timely replacement of a five-yard dump truck, so staff located a Ford F-750 at Victor Ford in Wauconda and recommended purchasing the chassis now and outfitting it later. Trustee Grace moved and Trustee Chybowski seconded waiving competitive bidding and authorizing the Village Administrator to execute a purchase agreement not-to-exceed $90,605.26 with Victor Ford; the motion passed on a roll-call vote (Aye 5, Nay 0). The minutes record that funds in the Vehicle Replacement Fund are available for this expense.

The board also approved the second set of September bills presented for payment in the amount of $274,235.39 (motion by Trustee Suchy; vote recorded Aye 5, Nay 0). In other business, Mayor Marturano recognized Police Chief Thomas Jones for 20 years of service, and a resident raised flooding concerns on Sprucewood during public comment.

The meeting adjourned at 7:51 p.m.; the minutes were later approved on Oct. 9, 2023.
