Students demonstrate '6 Bricks' Lego program at board meeting

Third graders from Elizabeth Green demonstrated '6 Bricks,' a Duplo-based activity used to practice executive-function skills including listening, visualization and teamwork, during the board meeting presentation. Teachers said the activity can be integrated into morning meetings and transitions.
At the April 22 meeting Kevin Duran and colleagues demonstrated "6 Bricks," a short Duplo‑based activity used in classrooms to support executive‑functioning skills.
Duran explained the activity's goals and introduced seven third graders who partnered with board members for a hands‑on 'architect/builder' challenge. Students and teachers described required skills — active listening, visualization, memory and teamwork — and said the short activity can be used during morning meetings, transitions or brief brain breaks.
The board and audience joined the activity for a single round, and presenters encouraged board members and families to visit the classroom at 30 Thomas Street to see the program in action.
