Colorado House affirms sister-state ties with Taiwan in unanimous resolution

Representative Hartsook invited Taiwan's director general and staff to the chamber and said Colorado businesses ‘‘do a lot of exports over there,’’ highlighting agricultural and technology ties and noting a recently signed memorandum of understanding the governor approved. Hartsook said the resolution recognizes ‘‘over 40 years of a sister state relationship with Taiwan’’ and ‘‘reaffirms support for Taiwan's international participation.’’
Representative Johnson, who joined a delegation that visited Taiwan last year, said the trip showed how much Colorado exports — ‘‘agriculture being the best — Colorado beef’’ — are appreciated and urged members to support the measure. The House opened the voting machine and, after a roll call, the resolution was adopted and is recorded as passed.
The action is a formal expression of the General Assembly's support for continued economic and educational ties; it does not create new executive‑branch obligations. Visitors from Taiwan were acknowledged on the House floor during the ceremony.
