The Kossuth County Conference Board on March 17 approved a $350,000 transfer from the Undesignated Fund balance to the Designated Fund balance for future county projects and declined to approve 1-inch aerial flights planned for 2027.
Supervisor Kyle Stecker moved the $350,000 transfer, and Mayor Rick Murphy seconded. According to the minutes, all mayors, all school board members and all supervisors present voted aye and the motion carried.
Why it matters: moving $350,000 into a designated reserve earmarks local resources for upcoming projects and priorities the board may address in future meetings. The board’s unanimous vote signals broad agreement among the county supervisors, municipal mayors and school board representatives present.
The board also considered whether to approve 1-inch aerial flights for 2027; the record states the voting units—mayors, school board members and supervisors—each voted no on the proposal, and it was not approved. The minutes do not identify who initiated the discussion or record substantive reasons for the rejection.
In other business, the board approved routine items including the meeting agenda and the minutes from the March 3, 2026 meeting. School Board member Art Pixler moved to adopt the County Handbook; Supervisor Amber Garman seconded the motion and the handbook adoption passed unanimously.
The board set a public hearing for April 7 at 12:00 p.m. after a motion from Mayor Tom Johnson, seconded by Art Pixler; the motion carried. The minutes list no new business.
The meeting convened at 4:00 p.m. in the Supervisor’s meeting room at the Kossuth County Courthouse and adjourned at 4:35 p.m. The minutes are signed by Carter Nath, Conference Board Chairman, and Brandon Ostwald, Clerk.
