The California Occupational Safety and Health Appeals Board on April 8, 2026 in Sacramento approved the minutes of its March 25 meeting, took two petitions for reconsideration under submission and voted to issue an errata, board records show.
The Board voted 3-0 to approve the March 25, 2026 minutes after a motion by Marvin Kropke and a second by Judith Freyman. Later in the meeting the Board voted 3-0 to take the petition for reconsideration in Herman Weissker Power, Inc. (1644980) under submission; that motion was moved by Ed Lowry and seconded by Marvin Kropke. The Board also voted 3-0 to take the petition for reconsideration in Los Angeles County Probation Department (1642084) under submission; that motion was moved by Marvin Kropke and seconded by Judith Freyman. Under "Other Items" the Board voted 3-0 to issue an errata (motion by Marvin Kropke, seconded by Judith Freyman).
The actions occurred as part of a meeting in which the Board reviewed a long list of pending matters, including orders dismissing appeals, settlement orders issued by Administrative Law Judges and a roster of matters pending in the Superior and Appellate courts. The Clerk read the items for the record and the Board discussed specific cases identified on the agenda.
Executive Officer Scott Pease reported several staffing developments: a top candidate has been selected for an Attorney I position pending HR approval; interviews for a Supervisor I position are scheduled in April; recruitment for an Analyst I position is open until April 15; and recruitment for an Administrative Law Judge position is open until April 24. Pease also said the Board’s Wednesday, May 6 meeting will be moved to Thursday, May 7.
Karen Halbo updated the Board that the Appeal Initiation Regulation and the Prehearing and Hearing regulation packages are currently under agency review. Chief Counsel Aaron Jackson provided a litigation update that included upcoming hearing dates on multiple matters.
