Summary
The Mehlville R-IX Board approved a district-wide communications plan for 2026–2028 after a presentation from chief communications officer Jessica Papillo, who highlighted website migration, ParentSquare use, and federal accessibility work.
Jessica Papillo, the district’s chief communications officer, presented the 2026–2028 communications plan to the Mehlville R-IX School District Board on April 23, outlining department staffing, digital tools and performance metrics and requesting board approval.
Papillo told the board the district migrated its website to Finalsite to improve ease of updates and accessibility, supported engagement for the district’s strategic plan and ran informational communications around ballot Proposition A. She reported strong ParentSquare usage — more than 200,000 direct messages and nearly 16,000 posts for the school year — and said the district had roughly a 99.8% ParentSquare contactability rate. Papillo also said the district had been scanning sites with Siteimprove and had an accessibility score of 85.8%, and that a federal accessibility deadline the team had been preparing for was pushed back one year.
Board members praised the communications team’s work and approved the communications plan by unanimous vote. The meeting record shows the plan aligns with the district’s strategic plan and includes continued emphasis on digital accessibility, internal staff communications, emergency communications goals and expanded business partnerships.
The board approved the plan as presented and moved on to the Prop S facilities update.
