Summary
Equity Manager Anne Nelson Stoner reported interns transitioning in May, staff plans to integrate equity into the ECOS plan, and cautioned that artificial intelligence might change some processes but cannot replace lived‑experience engagement.
Anne Nelson Stoner, CCRPC Equity Manager, updated the committee May 3 on the Equity Advisory Committee’s work to develop a process for allocating transportation funds to equity efforts and on efforts to integrate equity into the ECOS plan.
Nelson Stoner said two UVM interns will finish next week and Annie Henderson, a graduate student from Antioch, will begin as a summer intern on May 8. She described ongoing outreach to Chittenden County community members and said staff scheduled an in‑person equity meeting for CCRPC staff on May 8.
When Chair Chris Shaw asked how artificial intelligence might affect equity and community engagement, Nelson Stoner said AI could make sharing top‑down information and internal processes easier but would not replace the need to gather residents’ lived experiences. She emphasized the importance of thinking about what forms of knowledge AI captures and what it does not.
