The Ione City Council approved a tight draft schedule for the fiscal year 2027 budget on April 21 after Finance staff explained the timeline and the need to accommodate pending audits.
Finance staff member Andrea told the council the schedule includes two workshops for council and public input, with final adoption expected at the second July meeting. She said audits for 2022 were in final review and that limited-procedure presentations for 2021–2023 would be presented on May 5 via Zoom. "You'll see the listing of the financial reports...the 2022 has been finished...it's in the final review," Andrea said.
Council members discussed workshop timing and preferred a standalone workshop rather than squeezing budget work into a regular meeting. A motion to approve the proposed schedule passed without recorded objection.
Why it matters: The schedule sets the timeline for public input and staff work on revenues, departmental requests and final adoption of the FY2027 operating budget, and the near-term audit presentations will provide context for the council's budget decisions.
Next steps: Staff will present the limited-procedures audit updates via Zoom on May 5 and follow the adopted schedule toward final adoption in July.
