Trustees voted to table the Advanced Security contract (item 14a), citing time for counsel and staff to address questions; administration said tabling would not affect the football season timeline. The Arbiter Sports scheduling/website contract (item 14c), a successor to BigTeams, was also tabled amid concerns about missing attachments and language that could permit vendor-initiated automatic payments. Trustees asked administration and counsel to confirm order-form attachments and remove or clarify any automatic-payment provisions before taking the contract up again.
Separately, the board considered a $300 guest-speaker contract for an in-school presentation by an organization labeled 'Nutty Scientist.' Trustees sought assurance the vendor and any individual presenters hold required background clearances. The board amended the motion and approved the contract on the condition that administration confirm all required clearances and that Board member Garten’s specific questions be resolved prior to the contract taking effect.
Board members underscored that, even after contract approval, district policy and school practice require that visitors without proper clearances not be allowed on campus.
