Kenowa Hills board invites four candidates for first-round superintendent interviews, one conditional invite

The Kenowa Hills Public Schools Board of Education voted 7-0 on April 16 to invite four applicants to first-round superintendent interviews and to extend a conditional invitation to a fifth candidate.

Member Hart moved to invite candidates 3, 9, 7 and 2 for first-round interviews and to include candidate 4 contingent on their response to follow-up questions; Member Gustinis supported the motion. The board adopted the motion (Action Item 26-033) unanimously.

Earlier in the meeting, Member Robinson moved, with Member Turner supporting, that the board adjourn and go into closed session to review application materials for the superintendent position; that motion also carried 7-0 and the board recessed to closed session at 6:03 p.m. The meeting resumed at 8:23 p.m.

The special meeting, called to order by President LaBotz at 6:01 p.m. at Kenowa Hills Middle School, included routine organizational business (including a motion by Member Courtade, supported by Member Hart, to approve the agenda, which passed 7-0) and a public-comment period during which no audience members addressed the board.

Board minutes list planned next steps for the search and schedule interview dates: round-one interviews are set for April 28 and April 30, with round-two interviews planned for May 14. The minutes also list other upcoming board meetings and a retirement celebration scheduled for May 18.

The board adjourned the special meeting at 9:07 p.m. The minutes close with a signature line for the secretary; the minutes record the secretary's role but do not provide a personal name.
