Dixon County OKs multiple road actions, inspections and engineering contracts

County Engineer and PT Road Superintendent Brian McDonald updated the board on active projects and said the Newcastle East project's one-year warranty ends May 21, 2026. The board appointed Supervisor Deric Anderson as county-authorized negotiator for right-of-way construction at the Highway 12 and 585 Avenue intersection.
The board approved a motion by Supervisor Don Anderson to close a section of 576 Avenue in Hooker Township and recorded the resolution. The board also voted to offer a portion of 887 Road between Highway 15 and 8845 Road to Hooker Township; both motions carried unanimously.
Supervisor Steve Hassler moved to have the County Clerk advertise for crack sealing on Concord Road; the board approved advertising. The board accepted Medical Enterprises, Inc. (MEI)'s bid for fall 2026 bridge inspections on a motion by Roger Peterson. The board also approved Change Order #1 for the Maskell North project and reviewed and authorized the chair to sign an agreement for services with Midwest Engineering, Inc.
Each of the motions passed by roll call with all seven supervisors voting in favor. The actions are intended to advance scheduled maintenance and inspections ahead of the summer construction season.
