Fox River Grove approves consent agenda, honors youth poms teams and directs staff on downtown Block B

The Fox River Grove Village Board approved its consent agenda at a meeting on Jan. 17, 2023, presenting a proclamation to the Cary-Grove Junior Trojans Poms teams and directing staff on several items related to downtown redevelopment and parks outreach.

Trustee Patrick Wall moved to approve consent agenda items A–E, which included the Village Board minutes from Dec. 20, 2022; accounts payable for Jan. 3 and Jan. 17, 2023; the Treasurer's Report for November 2022; the fireworks contract; and Ordinance 2023-01 regarding surplus property. Trustee Melissa Schladt seconded the motion. Trustee Steve Knar asked whether the fireworks contract amount matched last year’s price and whether inflation might affect quality or show length; Administrator Soderholm said there had been no discussion of changes from last year’s agreement. The roll call vote was unanimous in favor and the motion passed.

President Marc McLaughlin read a proclamation honoring the 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade Cary-Grove Junior Trojans Poms teams for their 2022 championship and presented each team with a framed print. Trustees congratulated the athletes and coaches.

Under other business the board discussed the status of Block B and downtown redevelopment and directed staff to begin developing a bid package for potential building removal should the village seek demolition. President McLaughlin reported that three residents attended a recent "Mayor Night" event and that most questions concerned code enforcement and downtown issues. Trustee Curtiss asked when a Parks open house scheduled for Jan. 31 would be publicly announced; Administrator Soderholm said the advertisement was prepared to go out the next day.

Trustee Wall moved to adjourn at 7:21 p.m.; Trustee Schladt seconded and the roll call vote was unanimous.
