Students present chess club achievements; teacher honored for special‑education leadership

One staff member, introduced by administration, accepted a teacher‑of‑the‑year honor and delivered a speech describing nearly 30 years of service, multiple roles supporting students with autism and participation in the HEART program. The recipient said she applied for County Teacher of the Year to highlight Absegami and the district’s inclusive programs; she thanked co‑workers, supervisors and students and noted that the Ralph Martin Grant committee selected the HEART program for a scholarship.
Board members used the recognition moments to thank staff, highlight student achievements including Cedar Creek’s success at the Brain Brawl competition, and to invite trustees to attend upcoming school performances and activities.
