Several members urged adherence to the board’s 48‑hour new‑business notice rule; others argued that committees are necessary for effective advance work on negotiations, budgets and referral items. After discussion the board voted to move forward with the committee list that the president circulated, with the understanding that the policy committee would review and reconcile standing committee language and any necessary policy changes. The board also preserved an ad hoc committee to continue Mountainside send‑and‑receive work while policy updates are prepared.
Members asked the administration and the policy committee to review policy 0155 (appointments) and to bring recommended changes back to the full board so that the board’s committee structure and the process for appointing negotiation teams are consistent with policy and statutory obligations.
