During the Nov. 18 meeting, the Moriarty-Edgewood School District finance committee updated the board on audits and recent ballot outcomes.
A committee representative told the board that, because of a federal government shutdown, the federal portion of the district audit has been extended to Jan. 20; the state portion was already submitted. The presenter said the extension will require an additional fee "a little over $3,000," which the district will have to pay.
The board approved consent agenda finance items 1–3 by voice vote. Several board members also publicly thanked community members and staff for helping to pass a general obligation bond and a two-mill levy in a recent off-cycle election, noting turnout of about 3,400 voters across the counties. Members said the bond funds will be used for facilities and maintenance, with a specific project — Edgewood Middle School HVAC replacement — noted as moving forward.
No formal budget amendments or contract awards were approved at the meeting; staff said they will continue work on audit timelines and return with updates as needed.
