"I just paid half of 5,950 for the deposit... and then he tells me, oh my god. I just miscalculated... and it was 24,400," Sue said at the hearing.
Staff advised Sue to obtain at least two more written estimates and cautioned her not to sign any additional paperwork until she had comparisons. A staff member told her, "Get you at least 2 more quotes," and reiterated not to accept the revised quote without comparison.
By agreement of the parties, hearing officer Erica Thomas continued the matter to April 2, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. for further consideration. The hearing record lists the case as CE2025-0771.
The continuation gives the homeowner additional time to obtain competing bids and for the enforcement process to proceed with updated compliance information.
