Board recognizes outgoing member, fall athletes and community clothing donation

The board used part of its Dec. 16 meeting to recognize service and student accomplishments and to thank a local real‑estate team for community donations.
Board members presented a plaque to Lindsey Donner in appreciation of two years of service and a certificate of appreciation to Elizabeth Howells for her return to the board after prior service. Colleagues praised Donner’s commitment and Howells’ experience.
Athletic director Joe Naya introduced fall sports coaches and student athletes. Coaches highlighted achievements across programs: the volleyball program placed high in district play and had several all‑district selections; the cross‑country team took the full boys’ team to state, and coach Janice Gustafson said one athlete, Carmen Dorsey Spitz, won the state championship and set a state course record. Boys’ and girls’ soccer coaches and the football program also summarized seasons and community service activities.
The board recognized Venturi Realty Group for organizing a clothing drive (held Dec. 2) to replace clothing resources the district lacked after not receiving McKinney‑Vento funds; the group collected new and used clothing across sizes for early‑childhood through high‑school students and district staff said the donation filled many needs.
The recognitions concluded the district’s fall sports presentations and community‑partnership acknowledgements.
