District survey shows gains in elementary climate; wellness center to open Jan. 5

District administrators presented results from the fall Panorama school‑climate survey and outlined next steps for school supports.
Presenters said elementary climate measures show momentum, including a 7‑point increase in elementary school climate and gains on teacher‑engagement questions. At the same time, one elementary self‑management measure dropped 7% from spring to fall; presenters noted that some survey respondents this year were different students than in the spring, which could affect comparisons.
The secondary survey (sixth through 12th grades) produced mixed results. Administrators said they received 828 student responses at the secondary level and that one measure—whether students think school rules are fair—was low, with roughly 27% indicating rules are fair. Secondary school safety perceptions improved modestly in some measures, and staff reported growth in cleanliness and access to adult support.
Staff and family response counts were also provided: 134 staff responses and 199 family responses. District officials said committees (attendance teams, behavior teams and mental‑health teams) will analyze the data and propose targeted interventions.
On student services, the board heard the high‑school wellness center is scheduled to open Jan. 5. The wellness room will initially serve four students at a time for 15‑minute visits; students request a pass through the school’s digital call‑pass system, and trained staff will accompany students and complete a short reflection on exit.
Administrators said they will prepare more detailed breakdowns for the board in January and convene school‑level teams to plan targeted responses based on the Panorama findings.
