Several residents used the March 24 public-comment period to urge the council to pursue housing and employment transparency measures.
Miss Sharif (speaker 14) told the council she would submit sample accessory-dwelling-unit ordinances from Montclair, South Orange, Teaneck and New York City and asked the clerk and council to consider an ADU policy to help seniors remain in place, increase property values and create rental opportunities. “I’m gonna submit the ADU information to you,” she said, urging Hackensack to consider similar provisions.
Separately, a resident who identified herself as Bridgette asked if the site could highlight local job openings so community members can find municipal employment opportunities. City staff and the city manager confirmed job postings are currently available via the personnel department on the website and said staff would consider making them more prominent on the homepage.
The meeting record shows no action or ordinance language was adopted tonight; residents were invited to submit model ordinances and staff will review and follow up.
