The Pine Lake Preparatory Board of Directors on Feb. 26, 2025, approved three staff hires and ratified an executive director contract during its monthly meeting.
The board approved the following hires: Eric Elliott as an EC teacher for the Lower School; Ashley Pagluighi as an EC teacher for the Middle School; and Suzy Sliney as an administrative associate. Chair Sarah Phillips moved the hiring motion; Brie Leggat Johnson seconded it. The motion passed with no abstentions recorded.
After an executive session held under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143-318.11(a), the board voted to withhold the minutes of that closed session pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143-318.10(e). Chair Sarah Phillips moved the motion to withhold the minutes; Dorothy Powers Gorman seconded it. The motion passed and the board cited the statute when authorizing nondisclosure. The meeting transcript contains a typographical date for the closed session (listed as 2/26/225); the board’s vote and citation appear in the resumed open session record.
The meeting also recorded formal approval of an executive director contract. Chair Sarah Phillips moved the contract approval; Dorothy Powers Gorman seconded; the motion passed.
