The Vernon Hills Village Board on Nov. 18 voted to approve an amended outdoor‑dining permit for Postino at 887 N. Milwaukee Ave., adding a condition that the restaurant install protective safety bollards as determined by the Community Development Department.
Director Jennings explained staff had corrected the seating count in the resolution from 41 seats to 65 and walked trustees through the proposed three‑season, partially enclosed outdoor area. Trustees asked staff to require stronger protection at the northwest corner of the outdoor area that faces a drive aisle; one trustee requested robust bollards to prevent a motor vehicle intruding into the dining space.
President Cook asked whether the amendment could be included as a condition; staff said the applicant could be given a chance to respond at a subsequent meeting if necessary, but the committee agreed to amend the resolution during the meeting. The board then adopted the amended resolution (recorded roll‑call ayes from Trustees Marquardt, Oppenheim, Forster, Schenck, Takaoka, Lundin and President Cook).
Director Jennings noted the applicant had not yet submitted permit drawings but that Community Development staff had reviewed the concept and expected the safety condition would be acceptable; if the applicant objected, the applicant could appear at the next meeting to discuss the condition.
Resolution 2025‑062R will be memorialized in the village record and implementation will be managed by Community Development for permit review and inspection.
