Commission authorizes advertising of 2026 water treatment chemical bids

Ryan, a Water & Light staff member, presented the 2026 water treatment chemical bid packet and recommended the commission authorize the specifications and proceed to advertise.
"The 2026 bid packet includes a 1‑year base price for estimated water treatment chemical requirements, and a 2‑year base bid price for a guaranteed cost contract on pretreatment and softener, base and chemicals, and coagulants, as well as a service and performance requirements," Ryan said. He said the packet would be issued on Oct. 10, advertised Oct. 14–20, bids opened Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. in the chambers, and tabulation and recommendations would be brought to the commission on Dec. 3.
A commissioner moved to authorize the bid specifications and advertise; a second was recorded and the motion passed on a roll-call vote.
Why it matters: the procurement establishes prices and potential guaranteed‑cost arrangements for water treatment chemicals used in 2026. Staff will return with a bid tabulation and recommendation to the commission in December.
