City staff: Reservoir repairs on schedule, expected back online by mid-to-late October

Steve, a Water & Light staff member, updated the commission on repairs to the city reservoir, saying contractors finished sandblasting and coating the overflow piping and fittings and that concrete repair work by ICS is planned to start next Monday.
"They came in last week. They got overflow piping fittings. They got that sandblasted and and coated," Steve said, adding that ICS expects to begin concrete repairs and anticipates the reservoir will be cleaned, disinfected and returned to service by "middle a little later part of October." He noted a completion date of Nov. 1 in the project schedule.
The update included operational sequencing: once concrete repairs are done, staff will disinfect and bring the reservoir back online. Ryan and other staff later confirmed related painting work was completed and that pre-construction work on other related projects is under way.
Why it matters: the reservoir is part of the city water system infrastructure; restoring it to service affects distribution capacity and sampling schedules. Staff said lead-and-copper and disinfection byproduct samples have been collected and submitted to the Department of Health and that test results are pending.
Looking ahead: staff said concrete work will begin as scheduled and that they will report progress to the commission at the next meeting. The commission took no formal action beyond receiving the report.
