County launches capital projects dashboard and updates community‑center and courthouse renovations

Capital projects staff announced that the county’s new capital project management dashboard went live on Aug. 18, allowing council and the public to view GIS‑mapped project locations, budget and expenditure figures, recent updates and project photographs.
"This went live today," the presenter told the committee, explaining the dashboard shows filters, the project gallery and a "last updated" date in the lower-right corner for each project. Staff said projects are being imported gradually and that updates will be refreshed approximately every two weeks to a month.
In project-by-project updates, staff said interior renovations to the council chambers and the administration side are progressing and that the county hopes to occupy the administrative portion within 30–60 days. Staff also reported progress on community centers — with Agnes Major and Wesley Felix designs at about 85% and steel orders placed — and said the Scott Community Center renovation (mainly flooring and kitchen work) is a roughly $140,000 project.
Station 39 is in permitting and the county posted a construction sign; the Bluffton pool has experienced recurring HVAC power-related shutdowns that staff and contractors are addressing. Staff also said a design process has begun for a roughly $1,000,000 renovation of the Beaufort County courthouse lobby and family courtroom areas, with the design phase expected to take 3–4 months before going to bid.
Committee members raised questions about permitting details, window placement in chambers renderings, and ensuring court staff and judges are consulted on courtroom design; staff said they are engaging users and will provide additional materials to council before a county-council hearing.
