Bradley County to consider zoning definitions and rules for cryptocurrency mining and data centers

Commissioner Josh Rogers placed two items on the Bradley County Commission April 20 voting-session agenda: a rezoning request for property on Jenson Avenue SE (tax map 065E group D parcel 028.00) and a resolution to amend the Bradley County Zoning Resolution to add definitions and regulations for cryptocurrency mining and data centers and to permit those uses in the I-1 General Industrial district.
Bradley County Schools Director Dr. Linda Cash addressed the commission during the work session and thanked commissioners for their efforts to protect school system assets when considering the potential impact of data centers. Cleveland Bradley Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Industrial Development Doug Berry told the commission there are no active efforts to recruit or pursue data centers in the county.
Rogers did not present detailed ordinance language during the work session; the item was placed on the April 20 voting-session agenda for formal consideration. The commission did not take a vote on rezoning or the zoning amendment during the work session.
