City staff presented and the Waite Park City Council adopted an ordinance amendment to Chapter 52 that makes cannabis retail and related uses permissible in the B‑3 South Corridor.
John, a city staff member presenting the item, said the amendment corrects an omission in the ordinance adopted in December and "bring[s] parity" between B‑3 and the other commercial zoning districts (B‑1, B‑2). The amendment explicitly adds retail sales, on‑site consumption at licensed microbusinesses and lower‑potency hemp products to the B‑3 district so that the city's major commercial corridor is treated consistently.
John told the council that no submittals for the B‑3 district had been received so far but recommended adoption to align zoning across commercial districts. A council member moved to approve the amendment; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
