Hendersonville library committee forwards multiple draft policies to full Board, schedules Unattended Children policy

The Hendersonville Library Bylaws/Policies Committee on Jan. 2, 2025 voted to forward several draft policies — circulation, conduct, confidentiality and an employee dress code — to the full Board for approval and added an Unattended Children policy to the next committee agenda, Chairman Joanna Daniels said.
The committee met at the Hendersonville Library and, according to the roll call, Erika Grammer, Joanna Daniels, Mike Bryan and Jim Holcomb were present; Jackie Wilber was recorded as absent. The meeting notice listed a 10:30 a.m. start but the call to order is recorded at 10:00 a.m.
The meeting opened with approval of the agenda on a motion by Jim Holcomb, seconded by Mike Bryan, and approval of the Dec. 11, 2024 minutes on a motion by Erika Grammer, seconded by Mike Bryan. Both motions passed unanimously.
Under Old Business, the committee moved the Mission Statement item into Old Business for further consideration. Members also voted to suspend Robert’s Rules, on a motion by Mike Bryan and second by Erika Grammer, to permit free questioning of attendee Alycia Neighbours.
After discussion of draft documents, the committee voted to refer the draft Circulation Policy (motion by Jim Holcomb, seconded by Mike Bryan), the draft Conduct Policy (motion by Joanna Daniels, seconded by Erika Grammer), the draft Confidentiality Policy (motion by Jim Holcomb, seconded by Erika Grammer) and the draft Employee Dress Code (motion by Mike Bryan, seconded by Jim Holcomb) to the full Board. Each referral passed by unanimous vote of those present.
On new business, Jim Holcomb moved and Mike Bryan seconded to add an Unattended Children policy to the next meeting agenda and to include any additional items the chair deems necessary; the motion passed unanimously.
Chairman Joanna Daniels noted that no members of the public had signed up to speak; Alycia Neighbours was listed as present. The committee voted to bring the meeting back into session and then adjourned; both motions passed unanimously.
The policies referred to the full Board will be considered at a future full Board meeting; the committee did not set final adoption dates during the Jan. 2 session.
