Weyland said staff has been in contact with the City of Mound regarding a portion of West Edge Boulevard that lies partially in Mound and underscored the need to coordinate approvals before awarding the street improvement contract. Council members also discussed a small adjacent parcel that Saint Bonnie has expressed interest in annexing and recommended a joint meeting to clarify costs and timing for water interconnect projects and fire‑district joint powers agreements.
Council members debated whether Minnetrista should contribute to the Highway 7 corridor coalition and expressed differing views on lobbying and candidate/party neutrality when sending a proposed letter about state‑level fraud and bonding priorities. Weyland said she preferred a measured, data‑driven approach and recommended discussing a formal council letter and related resolutions at a work session; the council agreed to return the issue for further review and invited state representatives to a February work session or a February 18 meeting depending on schedules.
No formal intergovernmental agreements were finalized at the Jan. 7 meeting; council directed staff to organize follow‑up meetings and bring proposed materials, timelines and budgets to future work sessions.
