Second, the council authorized the attorneys representing the city in the opioid litigation to accept proposed settlement terms offered by several defendant groups, including the Remnant Defendants Settlement Group and multiple pharmacy and wholesale distributors named in the transcript. The motion directed attorneys to accept those proposed settlements on the city's behalf.
In both cases, council members voted in favor and the motions carried in open session. The city attorney reported that no official action was taken during the closed session itself.
