Staff noted the total budget represents roughly a 7.5% decline from the prior year’s total budget and the general fund showed about a 4.8% change. The recommended levy corresponds to an approximate 5.46% increase over the prior levy.
Council members asked for clarifications on year-over-year percentages. Staff responded that last year’s budget was about $31.55 million and that the $27.65 million total represents reductions largely related to one-time items included in the prior year. After questions and discussion, the council adopted the budget by resolution (vote 5–0) and approved the levy in a separate resolution by a recorded vote of 4–1.
The council also approved the 2026 official fee schedule and several routine resolutions during the meeting.
