The golf board voted to recommend a raise for Jess Trevino from $20.40 an hour to $25 an hour. Kurt Riling, management contract holder and general manager of the New Prague Golf Club, told the council Trevino ‘‘performs numerous roles’’ at the course, including preparing food, managing the bar and coordinating events; he said the comp study did not fully capture the range of duties the position now includes and recommended adjusting the pay rate.
Josh (staff) said HR (Robin) had been consulted and that the city could consider moving the position to a distinct pay scale while keeping it part time. Councilmember Rick Seiler moved to advance Trevino from $20.40 to $25; Maggie Bass seconded. The council approved the motion by voice vote; the chair announced the motion passed.
Council discussion noted the raise is intended to retain an employee who has expanded the golf course’s food-and-beverage offerings and that the city will revisit whether the role should be full time if duties increase.
