City staff: new-home permits fell in 2025 while multifamily and public‑project values rose

He reported 14 new business openings in 2025 (up from 11) and 32 business closings/changes (compared with 26 the prior year). Ken said vacancies are down to 23 total compared with 31 last year.
On the rental‑license program, Ken said the city’s map covered about 470 units for the two‑year cycle; the map excluded larger assisted‑living or memory‑care complexes that are licensed by other agencies. He said staff sent about 20 compliance letters in December and that only three properties remained noncompliant as of the last check.
