Doctor Daria presented job descriptions for the district’s partnership with the Sabin Discovery Center and asked the board to approve the descriptions so the selection process can begin.
Daria said the packet includes job descriptions for approximately 13 positions across seven job‑description types, from an executive director to teachers and residents. She told the board the positions will be employees of Tuscaloosa City Schools but will be funded through the Sabin Discovery Center and the Sabin Foundation; an MOU that will clarify employment, programming supervision and legal/insurance responsibilities will be provided to the board in a subsequent meeting.
Board members asked whether foundation fundraising staff would become district employees and how legal expenses would be handled. Daria said the foundation remains separate and that the MOU and legal agreements ensure the district will not assume additional expenses. The board approved the job descriptions by voice vote.
