Rhea Medical Center board re‑elects officers, reviews credentialing and pursues facility funding

The Rhea Medical Center Board of Directors met Feb. 11, 2026. The board re‑elected Billy Thedford as chairman by acclimation and elected Lebron Purser vice chair and Teresa Roberts recording secretary; motions passed unanimously.
Medical staff business included approvals of new appointments, reappointments and extensions to provisional privileges for emergency and orthopedic providers. The board accepted credentialing recommendations from the Medical Executive Committee and approved allied health reappointments and provisional period extensions.
CNO Samantha Bryant and other clinical leaders presented the January quality and nursing reports. Administrator Hoss Whitt reported the hospital has added several department heads, is focusing on emergency department throughput (including fast track) and is partnering with a vendor for a two‑day leadership conference, "Ignite the patient experience," scheduled for April 22–23. Whitt said hospital leaders plan to meet with congressional delegates in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 24–25 to pursue roughly $2 million in funds/grants to support HVAC replacement projects; he also reported discussions about purchasing a building from Dr. Swafford and evaluating a possible additional spine clinic location.
The board approved routine committee minutes and accepted reports from Ovation Health and Safety Committee updates. Several motions related to infection control, emergency operations, and RVU adjustments for surgical staff were approved unanimously.
