Council sets evening District 6 meeting May 7 to focus on youth homelessness

The Pierce County Council on April 21 adopted Resolution R2026‑140 to set an evening District 6 council meeting for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at James Sales Elementary School in Parkland.
Chief Counsel Long explained that the Pierce County Charter directs the council to hold at least one evening meeting in each of the seven council districts each year and that the time, place and date are set by resolution. She noted the evening meeting will be in addition to the regular weekly meeting and therefore does not affect the charter requirement that meetings occur in 50 different weeks.
Council members said the session will focus on youth homelessness and invited local participation; the chair noted the meeting will include district‑specific outreach and that food will be provided. The clerk recorded 7 ayes and 0 nays on the resolution and the motion was adopted.
