Placentia Chamber says membership, events and business outreach rose in first year of city contract

The Placentia Chamber of Commerce reported an active first year under a contract with the city on Nov. 19, citing increased membership, expanded visitor-center operations and programs aimed at supporting local business growth.
Kenny Binnings said the Chamber moved into the revitalized City Hall visitor-center location and focused on three contract pillars — communication, collaboration and integration. The Chamber hired social-media and marketing support, coordinated event calendars with city departments to avoid conflicts, and launched small-business education series and outreach efforts that produced ribbon cuttings and onboarding meetings for new and expanding businesses.
Binnings noted a 30% increase in membership over the prior year, 22 ribbon cuttings, more than 90 networking events and $10,000 in grants distributed to schools from a combined e‑waste program. He said the Chamber plans additional co‑marketing, a membership directory and educational course series in early 2025.
Council members thanked the Chamber and asked questions about visitor-center foot traffic (staff and the presenter estimated roughly 15–20 visitors so far) and about continued coordination with city economic-development efforts.
Outcome: Council received the presentation and expressed appreciation for the Chamber's work; no formal action was taken.
