Commission approves drafting of amendments to antitrust premerger law, seeks late-bill status

The Colorado Commission on Uniform State Laws voted to commission drafting of amendments to the Uniform Antitrust Premerger Notification Act of 2024 and authorized submitting the draft as a late bill to the speaker of the Colorado House.

Commissioner Espinosa moved "that we look at the suggested amendments to the Uniform Antitrust Premerger Notification Act of 2024" and corrected her motion to "draft [the] bill in accordance with these amendments," saying later she would move to "commission the draft for the submission of a late bill as a Colorado Uniform Law Commission committee bill to the speaker of the house as I would be the prime sponsor." The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gardner.

Commissioner Gardner asked whether granting permission to draft would be sufficient to move the amendments forward and obtain late-bill status and introduction in the legislature. Commissioners did not raise further objections, and the clerk announced the motion passed with no further discussion recorded.

The commission said the amendments originate from the Uniform Law Commission and are intended to bring the 2024 act into conformance with the uniform commission's changes. No vote tallies were recorded in the transcript; commissioners proceeded by voice and the clerk noted no objections.
