Del Rio secures $17 million in state funding for water infrastructure to support Laughlin AFB readiness

Public Works staff told the council the award will fund projects including rehabilitation of the San Felipe East Springs Containment Wall and expansion and membrane replacement at the city’s water treatment plant. City officials said the investment is aimed at strengthening long-term water reliability and supporting mission readiness at Laughlin Air Force Base.
Councilmembers and staff expressed appreciation for state support and noted the funding will help advance key capital improvements. No formal vote was required for the informational update; implementation details and timelines will be managed by Public Works as projects move through design and procurement.
