Council awards $443,674 contract to replace indoor pool play structure

Burleson City Council voted unanimously to award a contract to Craftsman for replacement of the indoor pool play structure at a total cost of $443,674.21, following a staff presentation from Jen Basham, the city's director of parks and recreation.
Basham told the council the existing structure is 15 years old and the project scope includes demolition and removal of the old structure, replacement of three leaf structures around the Lazy River, design of the new features and installation. She said staff publicly bid the project and received four responsive bids; Craftsman's proposal met the scope and was recommended for award.
Council members asked about funding and the FY2026 capital-improvement plan. One member noted the CIP listed $367,500 for the project and asked whether the remaining funds would be covered; Basham said the additional amount would be approved as part of the June 16 budget adoption to make the total available for the contract.
A motion to approve the contract was made, seconded, and the council approved the award unanimously.
