Commissioners discussed future budgeting for subsequent phases and noted the project’s importance to opening access and economic opportunities for Weslaco. The commission approved the payment by voice vote and directed staff to include anticipated overruns in upcoming budgets.
Staff said the project is being advanced to be shovel‑ready and that future phases will be budgeted as county and state funding opportunities become available.
