Martin said parks and recreation projects in Mountlake Terrace have relied on youth‑activity funding for playground and field improvements and that diverting that money to a stadium would be improper. “Please don't take money from the parks and give it to Major League Baseball,” he said as he read his draft resolution to the council.
Council members asked for more information before acting. Council member Sanmore and others sought clarity about how much of the youth‑activity account is at risk, what projects in Mountlake Terrace could be affected, and what role county and private funding commitments play. Sanmore asked staff to gather details so the council could give Martin a reasoned response.
At the meeting, council members confirmed they had received emailed materials from Martin and said they would ask staff to report back with specifics, including whether funds cited are local allocations, county commitments, or state RCO grants and how a request from Mountlake Terrace would be routed to Everett.
