After executive session, commission grants three-month industrial wastewater permit with conditions and authorizes settlement

After convening in closed session to consult with legal counsel on multiple items, the Weslaco City Commission returned Dec. 16 and took two recorded actions tied to attorney advice.
Legal counsel recommended the commission approve a three-month industrial wastewater discharge permit for Liquid Environmental Solutions contingent on conditions discussed in closed session and authorized the city manager to pull the permit without returning to the commission if those conditions are not satisfied. The motion passed on a voice vote.
Separately, counsel recommended authorizing the mayor and city manager to execute a settlement agreement in the case styled Christopher De Leon d/b/a De Leon Aircraft Maintenance Professional v. City of Weslaco (cause no. 7.22 CV-00210, Southern District of Texas), pending final review by the city attorney. The commission approved that authorization by voice vote.
Commissioners indicated no further public action was required on other executive-session items at this time. The meeting then adjourned.
