The presenter said that Mercedes will have a separate instance and that agencies will not be able to access another agency’s investigative case files without authorization; the shared view aims chiefly to improve officer safety and expedite booking and identification.
Staff described the operational benefit with an example: if officers encounter a suspect who is not known locally, they can query the shared system and determine whether the person has outstanding warrants or arrest records in neighboring jurisdictions. The presenter said sharing also supports trend analysis and crime-data tracking across participating cities.
The commission approved the interlocal agreement after clarifying access controls and the scope of shared information.
