Commissioners approve interlocal agreement with Dallas for Internet Crimes Against Children task force

Henderson County Commissioners Court approved an interlocal agreement with the City of Dallas to participate in the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and to receive grant-funded equipment support.
A presenter told the court the Task Force’s funding comes from the U.S. Department of Justice and “they have given us 8,000.” The county intends to use the funding to purchase software that will allow investigators to access, extract and analyze data from mobile phones for child-exploitation investigations.
The court noted a typographical error in the draft agreement that referenced Grayson County; staff said they would correct the typo before finalizing signatures. A sheriff’s office representative said the county has had a “good working relationship” with Dallas on cases handled by the task force and that the county receives cases from Dallas on a regular basis.
After a motion and second, the court approved the interlocal agreement with all necessary signatures. The agreement is grant-backed; staff said the county will use the funds to acquire the specified forensic tools.
Next steps include correcting the county name in the written agreement and executing it with the required signatures so equipment procurement can proceed.
