The Decatur City Council approved a package of routine consent items on March 16 that included change orders for apartment improvements, an electric relocation to support the Country Club Road/Highway 67 intersection, and several board appointments.
Council approved Resolution No. 26058 to authorize change orders 1 and 2 to the contract with Woodrow Construction and Design to correct subsurface conditions and add parking at Jesse Lewis Smith; staff said the work will be covered by block grant funds and will not affect the general fund.
Separately, staff described Resolution No. 26061, which authorizes Decatur Utilities to relocate electric facilities for the Country Club Road/Highway 67 project. Staff indicated permits (including ADEM) and final design items remain before the project goes to bid.
The council also reappointed Jay Clark to the Architectural Review Board for a term ending March 19, 2029. Ordinance and licensing items, including a first reading for a chauffeur service by Dons Transportation LLC (406 Church Road), were noted for follow-up at future meetings.
Mayor Herman asked the council to add an item to the March 23 special called meeting to consider a Calhoun-related project that would require property acquisition and cooperation with Decatur Utilities and the state; he said total related expenses would not exceed $3,000,000 and that staff would provide a formal resolution for consideration.
